I`m engaged! Hot Hair Tool Haul :)

So I went to visit my boyfriend (or should I say fiance!) because he lives 1 1/2 away from me :(. He usually visits me every weekend but he was busy with work around him so I went to see him! Around him, there is a lot better shopping than around me, Sephora, Forever 21 etc...So I always get so excited to shop here! I`m still here for 1 more day which is exciting because Sunday wasn`t a very long shopping day I will have more time Monday (without the bf) cuz he doesn`t like shopping for clothes! Biolage Leave-In Tonic - I think it is really important to keep the moisture in your hair, especially in the winter months. If you have dry or brittle hair, in order to get it to a healthy state, it needs moisture. So I always like to make sure I use a leave in conditioner after I shower.

Morrocanoil - I put this in after my leave in conditioner. If you know me, you know this is my #1 go to hair product! I cannot live without it! It is great for any hair type and does not get overly greasy.

Joico Body Luxe Design Foam - I like to put this through all my hair, bascially to make it dirty lol. In order for me to have managable/fuller looking hair, I need product! I like this because it is not like mousse because mousse tends to make hair sticky. I don't find this does that and it lasts a really long time!

Chi Volume Booster - I use this especially on my roots and then I brush it throughout my hair everytime I blow dry. This also really helps to make my hair less slippery and fuller.

Tresemme Tres Two Extra hold - I like this hairspray because it has nice hold and also it comes in a huge bottle so it lasts forever! It is not very expensive either, about $5 for 311g :)

Batiste Dry Shampoo (Tropical Scent) - For my roots to give it extra uumph!

Dannyco Backcombing Brush - This is by far my favourite tool for back combing hair. LOVE!

Tan - SUN Giessee by Sun Laboratories self tanning lotion dark sunsation instant tint in Very Dark. Love love love this stuff!! I use to wear Neostrata Natural Insta Tan, but it was about $28 for 120 mL. I like to self tan a lot, especially in the summer so that gets pretty expensive...So I decided to try this because there is 944 mL in this huge pump! It was around $70 dollars but it will last me FOREVER! So like I said...In the long run wayyy cheaper!

Nails - SNS Nails (Signature Nail System) I have the pink and white so I can paint them and not worry about having to get a french tip again! If you are interested I have attached the website for you!

Lips - Devilishly Stylish (Mac). It was a limited edition from the Villains Collection.

I was getting some of the same questions about my hair and extensions so I figured I'd make a video about the two most popular ones. These were questions that were more difficult to answer in a comment and easier if I just showed you. If you haven't seen the video yet, here it is!

Some of the other FAQ's that I didn't answer in the video are:

What type of clip in extensions are your favourite?

How many grams are your extensions?
I use two sets of the 120 grams, making it a total of 240 (give or take the small 1" clips)

What colour extensions do you purchase?
If you check out my video below, I explain the colour I buy and how I low light them to match my hair.

How long are your extensions?
I get the 20" extensions and I trim about an inch to two inches off depending.

Flawless Looking Hair Extensions

If you are nervous about purchasing clip in extensions online because of the fear of not matching, don't worry, there is a solution!

I have been working with clip in hair extensions for over five years now and I have taught myself a few tricks along the way that have really helped me blend and match my extensions (even if they might not come the perfect colour).

Depending on your hair colour, length and thickness of your hair, everybody has different needs when it comes to their hair extensions.

Whether your hair is long, thick, thin etc...it is no surprise that short hair is the hardest to conceal when it comes to extensions; especially if you have a blunt cut or a combination of thick and short hair. While it does seem difficult, it can be done! Here are a few tips I have found work well when you are blending clip in extensions to short hair.

Blending Short Hair

Natural looking extensions on short hair.

To look the most natural, the top layer of your actual hair should be chin length or longer. This is helpful if you are looking to have your extensions past 14 inches (16, 18 or 20 inches etc). The reason for this is to prevent a mullet or really shaggy effect (unless you like this look, than disregard)

If you plan on having extensions that are 14 inches or shorter, your shortest top later shouldn't be shorter than the top of your ear for the same reasons as above.

Layer Layer Layer

When you have short hair, layers are a godsend when it comes to making the extensions look natural! If your natural hair is shorter than your chin and your extension hair is 16 inches or longer, always start your layers at your chin or longer. (to prevent a mullet or shag). I have attached a video on how to layer clip in extensions. Hope it helps!

The shorter your hair the more hair you will need to blend

I would suggest two packs of 120 grams of clip in hair extensions for medium to thick short hair (even though I have finer hair, I like the added thickness). Some may feel that 240 grams is too much for your hair but I like the fullness.

The closer you set the extensions to each other, the more natural it will flow and look.

Especially if you have short hair, setting the extensions closer together will prevent your natural hair underneath from being seen. If they are set further apart, as the wind blows your natural shorter pieces in between the extensions will be noticeable. Here is a video on how to clip in extensions to short hair.

Hair Shoulder Length Or Longer

With hair this length, you don't need to worry as much about it looking natural. Because It already has length, blending makes this much easier. if you have fine to medium hair (depending of course on the individual) You could probably do well with one pack of 160 grams of hair. If your hair is on the thicker side, you might want to consider 2 packs of 120 grams of extensions. I still prefer (even with longer hair) to follow the guidelines in the video above when applying hair extensions so they flow more natural. To find out your hair type, please click Here.

Curly Or Wavy Hair

Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of options for those of us with curly/wavy hair when it comes to extensions. To blend, the best way is to straighten your natural hair to match with the straight extensions. Otherwise, you may be able to find a curling iron that matches the same curl as your hair and curl the extensions instead.

Dying or Low Lighting Extensions

Synthetic Hair Extensions.

I never recommend synthetic extensions. You cannot dye, straighten or curl these extensions and they have a very short life. In my opinion, unless you are looking to wear these once and throw them out, they are a waste of money.

Dying Extensions A Full Set Of Extensions

Never attempt to dye the extensions lighter or use bleach. If you are unsure of your colour, be sure to get a shade lighter than what you think you need. Because everybody's computer monitor is different, the colours will always look different. So just because it looks like it matches, doesn't necessarily mean it will. If the company has a colour ring you can purchase, I strongly suggest it! Depending on how much extension hair you have will vary on how many boxes of dye you will need.

Match Your Hair Colour's Undertone

Just because the extensions are a dark brown colour doesn't necessarily mean it will match your dark brown hair. There are different undertones when it comes to hair colour. Examples of these are ash, red, gold etc... Personally, I have a golden undertone. When looking for extensions, look for what your undertone is and again if your not completely sure that it will match go a shade lighter. This helps when it comes to dying your extensions yourself because you need to start with the same undertones in your hair extensions as your hair even if it is a bit lighter. Find a box colour that has the same undertone to match the undertone of your hair and your extension hair. If you have an ashy undertone in your hair extension and try to put a colour with a gold undertone on top to match your golden undertones, it won't match. You will be able to find out your hair's undertone by visiting your stylist and then asking the extension company.

Low-Lighting Extensions

Like I said before, you will never want to high-light or bleach your extensions. This will shorten the lifespan of your extensions because it strips the colour out of the hair and opens the cuticle. The other alternative is low-lighting. Now, it may seem odd because if you are a person that goes to a salon and just gets highlights, it may seem counter productive to low-light the extensions. Believe me, it works! i know this because this is the method I use to do my hair.

What you are going to want to do is start with is your lightest colour. So if your high-light or lightest colour in your hair is a yellow blond, buy a set of extensions that are yellow blond (again keeping with the same undertone).

Sometimes your hair may seem one colour, but in reality have different demensions in it. This usually happens when you have blonde hair with blonde high-lights on top or brown hair with brown highlights etc... The ends may seem all one colour but in reality there are a few different colours. This is where some go wrong thinking that a one tone hair colour will be right for them. Even when my hair was lighter and looked one colour, I still low lighted them my extensions to get a more natural colour blend.

Now, you will want to low-light your hair the darkest colour you have in your hair. Find a box colour that matches your darkest colour and undertone. I do this by holding the my hair up to the sample colour on the box. Depending on how thick your high/low-lights are in your actual hair, is how thick you are going to want to make your low-lights in your extension hair.

Low-lighting your extensions is better than high-lighting because you are depositing or adding colour and not stripping it or pulling it from the hair, therefore there is less damage.

When you have big chunks of highlights or low lights in your hair. This is where I would suggest using the 1" clips to dye to match that particular colour so you can place them exactly where your high-light/low-light or coloured pieces are.

So this is most of my knowledge and my opinions about making extensions look natural. It has worked for me and hopefully it will worked for you as well! Hopefully I haven't missed anything... If you have any questions, please let me know!

Why I Took My Pure Hair Extensions Out

Hello, hello! So I realized that I put a few videos up on how I got these extensions installed and a Q & A, but I haven't told you my opinion yet. I didn't want to make a big video about it so I decided to blog about it instead!

First, I would like to thank Pure Hair Extensions and Jennifer for this opportunity. It was a really fun experience and I don't regret it. To take you all with me while I get my hair done and everything was exciting and I am glad I could share it with you!

Unfortunately I had the extensions in for two weeks and I ended up taking them out :( . I really wanted to love these extensions but in the end, they just weren't for me. It wasn't like it was a nightmare or anything, I just think it was mostly because I am so use to clip in's and the certain look they gave me that having a different type was awkward. Now, just because they didn't work for me, doesn't necessarily mean they wouldn't work for somebody else. This is only my opinion and everybody has a right to their own.

I feel the hair would be better suited for somebody with medium to thick hair. Since my hair was so fine, when I tried to let my hair air dry (which is the reason I wanted extensions, to grow my natural hair) they didn't blend with my hair. The hair had a wave to it, but medium/thick wavy hair drys differently than finer hair so I had to do a lot to my natural hair to blend it which was what I was trying to move away from.

Also, I feel you would need longer hair for this type of extension because my shorter pieces underneath were showing. Since my natural hair was wavy and the extension hair wasn't as wavy it and dried in thicker waves, it just didn't work out :S.

I had a few pieces fall out as well which wasn't fun...I am happy that I am a do it yourself-er and put them back in myself haha. I think my hair was just too slippery and fine for this type of extension.

All in all I just feel these didn't work well for my hair and better suited for somebody with medium/thicker hair. This is just my opinion.

I Need A New Camera!

Hey!! So as most of you know, I have recently been using my digital camera (Red Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH3) to film my videos.

       I decided to use this as my main camera because of the overwhelming response I got when I used it when my old (tape) video camera wasn't working properly. I love this camera, it takes awesome pictures (I used it as a scanner for pages I needed to send somebody and the quality was crazy!) and amazing high quality HD video!

       The downside of this is that it is obviously made more to be a picture camera because it does not have all the features of a real full fledged video camera. For example, I can't zoom in while I am recording which is a huge downfall!! Another thing that really sucks is that it will only let me record for just over 8 minutes at a time. This is frustrating when I am trying to do a tutorial and have to constantly check the time on the camera to make sure it is still recording. I hate being rushed when I am trying to explain something! Which brings me to my last problem! I can't see myself (or the time) while I'm filming. This may seem pretty vain (y do you need to look at yourself while your filming Kelly!?) But it really does help to see where I am in the frame. Especially if I am doing a bun or something and the top of my head is chopped off....just doesn't work lol!

       So I am going tomorrow to look into some video cameras. I just thought I'd do a post about it to see if any of you have any suggestions on what to get because I have no idea! I don't want to spend a crazy amount like $1000 or anything, but a good enough amount for a pretty decent camera. There are a few I have looked at online that seem pretty nice.

      There are so many options out there, I just don't know what to choose. This is why I am excited to go to Best Buy tomorrow and talk to an actual person about my options! I definitely want a really high quality HD camera, if any of you have any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated!

Hey everybody! I know I am not very good at keeping up with my blogs :S but I am trying! I thought I'd give you a glimpse of what I got for Christmas. These are my combined gifts from my boyfriend, parents, sister, friends, Santa, Secret Santa, boss and boyfriends parents! I am in no way bragging, just sharing my holiday with you :). I did not want to make a whole YouTube video out of it so I did a blog post instead.

So these aren't in any particular order basically in the order I took the pictures - random lol.

I Love Christmas!

Hey everyone! I would like to start writing more blog posts and what better to write about are how I feel! I just love this time of year; the holiday season, it just makes me feel so good! From the music to the Decorations, to just the spirit that is thrown around this time of year!

Of course when I was younger, it was all about the presents...or at least I thought it was. I got older and realized all the nostalgia the season brought. It just gives me a warm feeling inside. What really got me excited (aside from the gifts) was the atmosphere, the family and the fun of it all!

I celebrate Christmas, and of course this means a lot of different things to different people. Everybody has a right to their own opinion. I think the underlying message is that it is a time of giving and being selfless. No matter what the season means to you, I feel we can all agree.

Most think I am crazy since Christmas is hmmm...26 days away...We are still in November! To be honest, I haven't really been feeling the spirit the past few Christmases and it has been especially upsetting because this is usually my favourite season. It relieves me to be feeling it this early, the earlier it is the longer this happy feeling lasts! So for everybody who chooses to poke fun at the fact that I put my tree up a week ago and have the Christmas station constantly blaring on my car radio, let them! As long as it makes me feel good I will proudly wear my santa hat :) !

Cable Trouble!

Hey guys! So I promised a blog everyday so here we go...I have never had cable my entire life living at my parents home. So basically I had settle for the rabbit ears and maybe five channels (depending on the weather lol). I mean once or twice while I was living at home we had satellite for maybe a few months but that's about it. So I am in my own apartment now and I have gotten accustom to my five channels. The problem is that some of these channels now are not working (that darn digital switch!) Not just any channels though, important channels, basic channels like 2,4,7,20 & 50! All missing now!! Since most of the shows I love to watch are on channel 50 this was a huge bother to me.

As many of you might not know, Canadians don't have access to everything on every website as American's do. A lot of sites will let you on, but if you try to watch a video it says something like "This video in not available in your area". Basically it looks for your computer I.P. Address and if it isn't American, your not watching it!

So, determined to watch these shows and dare to be Canadian at the same time, I found a bunch of websites that are Canada friendly. First we have www.ctv.ca for Gossip Girl, America's Next Top Model, Big Bang Theory and any other shows on the CW. I also found that I can also watch many of my MTV shows like Jersey Shore and Teen Mom on www.mtv.ca which was a huge relief! You can find so many other shows on www.globaltv.com like House, Hellcats and 90210! Not to mention you can find almost any movie on demand on www.letmewatchthis.com. The internet is somethingI definitely rely on from day to day. I Honestly dunno know how we ever survived without it.

Back to my main point. My tv's are becoming obsolete! I'm neglecting them and I'm starting to feel like they have no purpose other than being a big fashion faux pas in the room! So I finally decided to get cable! Yey!! I know, I know, you're probably thinking..."Why spend money on cable when you just said yourself you can watch everything online". Well the truth is, having tv is kind of like having the radio. Even though you have tons of songs on your Ipod, sometimes you just like the randomness of the radio. Also, despite all the awesome shows you can watch online, There are still ton of shows on Bravo etc...that I am unable to watch.

So I set up the time for my cable to arrive which was Monday October 4th. It was perfect because I have Monday's off. They were kind enough to inform me that they will be showing up between 9am and 5pm...I'm like "Thanks?". Anywho, I was anxiously awaiting the arrival and most ppl are telling me "ohhh they won't be there till late". Since I like to sleep in, I knew otherwise. They decided to show up at 10am. I heard no knocking but I received a phone call informing me that they showed up and I didn't answer the door... So I called them back wondering what the heck was going on because I never received a knock at my door. We figured out that since my apartment is behind a house (Even though it has it's own address) They went to the wrong house!!! Now I am being penalized because the cable ppl don't like to listen!!

So in conclusion, it wouldn't be that big of a deal BUT I was planning to take a trip from Saturday to Monday to visit my bf at his school which is an hour and a half away. I didn't go because I had to wait for the cable guy. :(

Every Day Blog & Slouch Boots

Hey everyone! Since it is physically impossible for me to do a YouTube video on my channel everyday because I have work etc etc.. I will start posting blogs here once a day! I am hoping to do at least one YouTube video a week and a blog a day. Of course I am on Twitter 24/7 too! I can't promise anything but that is my plan :)

I will admit, I have a weird obsession with shoes. When I say obsession, I don't mean I just love shoes and always am buying shoes but it is one the things I am pickiest about. You can really judge a person by their shoes! One of the hardest things I am on the search for are a pair of flat black leather slouch boots. My problem is either the toe is too pointy or there is a heel or the foot of it is too skinny I just don't know what to do!!

This has been going on since last year when they really started getting popular. I have been searching and searching but nothing! I did find a pair once at Macy's but I never picked them up! I should have because I am kicking myself now!!

Maybe I'll just order the ones in the pic I attached. I actually really like them a lot but I am wary or buying shoes online. I always have to try things on first before I buy them. Anyways, if you guys have any ideas please let me know.

New Collections Mac Haul

Hey everyone! I have been putting up too many mini Mac hauls on my YouTube Channel and most of the time i don't think they really warrant a whole video so I decided to just do a Blog Haul! Yey!
So I'll start off with a brush I got. I ordered the 214 short smudger brush online. To be honest I thought it was going to be smaller and a bit more stiff. I want to use it with a soft pencil liner to smudge. I haven't used it yet so no concrete review here just sayin...If you know of a smaller stiffer smudge brush please let me know!

So the next thing I got was from their new Pro Longwear Lipcreme Lipstick Collection. I was really hoping for a really baby pink but there wasn't one :(. I came across the color in Overtime and it was a really nice natural pink so I thought I'd try it out! It is similar to the Satin lipsticks in the flatness of the color. I haven't really tried it out too much but I am excited to! From the swatch on my arm it is harder to rub off than the satin lipsticks. The packaging of this lipstick is even different it is in a long cylinder slimmer tube and is way more matte than their other lipsticks.

Overtime Is The First One In The Line Up

Now the fun stuff! The new Disney Villian collection. It looked so fun I just knew I had to have something from it!! I am a huge fan of nude colors. I just wear them more often and they go with almost everything. I got the Cruella De Vil cremesheen in Innocence, Beware! It is really pretty and compared to Myth obviously the first difference is that it is a Satin and Innocence, Beware! is a cremesheen. Besides the obvious difference I feel if you like Myth, you would lie Innocence, Beware! It has more of a pink tone but it's still really nude and might be one of my favs! It is really pretty and the packaging is fun with Cruella's picture and it is shinier than the average Mac Lipstick!

Heartless Is The First And Innocence Beware Is Second!

Last but not least is the Lipglass is Devishly Stylish. I really love this color! It is a really nice sparkly pink and would look awesome on top of Innocence, Beware! The packaging is like the average lipglass but with Cruella's picture with a couple of the dalmation puppies!

Hair Extension Criticism

Ok, where do I start... I have not been criticized very much about this topic (to my face anyways) especially because it is becoming the norm in today's world. But I have noticed that a lot of people have a hard time accepting what they don't understand.

Here are a couple questions I have been asked that I would just like to clear up for all the people who are confused and weirded out about the whole hair extension concept.

1. Why do you wear those "things"?
Answer: I wear them because I feel more confident wearing them. It actually takes me less time to put my hair extensions in my hair than it would be to style my own natural hair.

2. Why don't you just wear your hair short? It's so cute!
Answer: Because my hair is so fine and short, it takes a lot of product, styling and back combing to get my hair to look like I want it to. Therefore, it takes more time to style it. Believe it or not, I don't like to spend much time on my hair in the morning so it is an easy alternative to wear extensions.

3.Why do you want to wear something fake? Doesn't it weird you out?
Answer: Nope it doesn't weird me out. I think of it as a beauty staple. Basically like mascara, eyeliner, lip gloss and foundation. These things all enhance our beauty and are not natural but they make us feel better about ourselves. I feel the same way with extensions! If something is going to make you feel more confident and it's not hurting anybody then go for it!

4.What do guys say when they find out that you wear extensions?
Answer: Ok, where do I start with this one? I have never really had a guy say anything to me about extensions. Most people don't even know I wear extensions and think that I just have long hair. My boyfriend just thinks of it as another girly thing I do and accepts it as a part of my life. Most guys don't understand it and they probably never will. In reality, do guys really understand anything about why we do the things we do? Anywho, back to my point. I don't care what guys or girls think about me wearing extensions. The only thing that matters is that I enjoy them and they make me happy :).

5. Why wear extensions, why don't you just grow out your natural hair?
Answer: I get this question a lot. Most of you who follow my YouTube Channel know that I have thin, fine hair and it is a total frustration to grow! It get's damaged really easily because of how fine it is. I am constantly trimming my hair so it grows out healthily without split ends and breakage. If I just let it go, I would eventually need to chop a lot of breakage off at once and it would be counter productive! I am currently taking extra care of my hair and it has shown to help and it is growing out which I am grateful for! This is something I think a lot of women don't understand because most women have medium to thick hair that grows easily! So when you think your hair is way too thick, just get some layers to thin it out and be grateful! For girls like me, it's really hard just thicken up my hair unless your have extensions!

So those are the most common questions I get asked. I am sorry if you have a problem with it or you think I am fake because of it. My feeling is that if I am fake for wearing hair extensions than every girl who wears makeup in this world is fake too. Makeup is just more accepted.

Grow Your Nails!

Keratin - a protein which comes in a variety of forms, all of which are waterproof and durable. It is the principle component of horn, beaks, skin, hair, finger nails feathers and hooves among others.

While I am almost positive most of you were not blessed with hooves and/or feathers, beaks and horns *YIKES!* I am pretty sure most of the human race has hair, finger nails and skin!

For some unknown reason, my keratin is not very strong in my hair thus, it is not strong in my nails either...: (

I basically accepted the fact that my nails would just not grow! I was never much of a nail fanatic anyways (You all know my thing is hair) but I've always secretly admired women with nails on the longer side. It is something (along with hair) that most women take for granted!

So I found this product at the drugstore and figured I should just give it a try! I forget how much it was since I bought it a while ago but I have been using it about once a week and it has prevented my nails from chipping and cracking so now they are growing!! I see the white!! Get it...instead of "I see the light"...Anywho...This product is by L'Oreal and is called Grow Stronger! Nail Treatment.

Now, my nails have always been weak so I can easily bend them in whichever direction. This obviously has been one of the causes of my nail breakage. However, now they are still pliable but noticeably harder!

I didn't follow the directions thoroughly enough, and only have been applying this strengthening treatment once a week under my nail polish. BUT the directions clearly state "To use: Apply 1 or 2 coats to clean,dry bare nails. Apply 1 coat daily for 10 days. After 10 days remove Grow Stronger! and use regularly on your bare nails as a base coat for continued strength." So I have decided to start this Today!!! I'll let you know what I think after 10 days. So that'll be it for now!

Lock Your Doors!

           So...I am absolutely paranoid about leaving any electronics in my car, locking my car doors and locking my house up anytime I step out! So the other day, I brought in my night stands from the car that I had bought off Kijiji (I hope to do a separate post of this). I had just painted these to match my bedroom and I was so excited to finally have them in my house!! As I was walking up the steps to my place I thought to myself "Did I lock my doors?" I quickly corrected myself because I was sure I did! I never leave them unlocked! So I set them up in my room and was very content! It was getting late so I went to bed.

          The next day I go to my car only to see the door ajar! So I thought "Hmm, that's weird, I must not have shut my car door all the way". I didn't think much of it because usually even when that happens the lock still works. So I proceed to open my door and see my bag that was in the back seat on my drivers side seat. I also see my glove box opened and everything poured out of it!! I quickly contacted my boyfriend to see if he had been in my car for anything! He hadn't so there could be only one reason...Somebody saw that I had Ipod and cellphone wires in my car and proceeded to search my car for anything they can get their grubby little hands on! Luckily they didn't find anything because, like I said, I am paranoid about these things. They left no evidence of forced entry so it was evident that it was just my fault for leaving the doors unlocked.

    Even though they didn't take anything, It still left me feeling violated! Literally the ONE time I leave them unlocked!!! There is always a lesson in everything! LOCK YOUR DOORS!!
